A recent AARP bulletin highlighted several interesting cases of fraud and suggested actions to reduce the possibility of being defrauded.  Following are a few of the tips:


  • Always trust your family lawyer / doctor and never a lawyer / doctor from TV or a junk mail solicitation
  • Seniors need to have a trusted family member to oversee your in home services and perhaps should remove important documents from your house
  • Do not send money to tv or internet mortgage consultants regarding housing refinance
  • Always use a local funeral home regulated by Tennessee Funeral prearrangements
  • Warn other family members and perhaps law enforcement about suspicious situations
